The drama "A Ticket to Dongjiaokou," produced by the Publicity Department of the CPC Taishan Municipal Committee in collaboration with the Jiangmen Cultural Center and the Jiangmen Theatre Association, has been selected for the third-quarter 2025 broadcast lineup on the National Public Culture Cloud platform. The play was previously featured in the 4th Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Culture and Arts Festival.
Set in 1942 during the Japanese occupation of Hong Kong, the story follows a group of cultural figures who escape the city with the help of Chen Qiufan, a hotel manager and underground Communist member from Taishan. Their dangerous journey to Dongjiaokou in Taishan highlights a lesser-known but powerful episode in China's wartime history.
The play blends suspense and historical drama, as the escape plan is threatened when a key communication point is compromised. Chen hides the boat tickets inside a painting, which unexpectedly falls into the hands of others, leading to a series of tense and unpredictable events.
In recent years, Taishan has actively promoted local arts and culture, encouraging creative adaptations of its heritage. From traditional opera and music to visual and performing arts, the city has seen a rise in high-quality productions. Since 2023, Taishan's cultural works have received numerous awards at the national, provincial, and city levels, reflecting the growing strength of its local creative scene.
